Shostka Institute of Sumy State University was founded on the 8th of June in 2001 as a separated structural subdivision of Sumy State University. Its structure includes Educational and Consulting Centre of Sumy State University and Shostka Chemico-Technological College named after Ivan Kozhedub.

Enthusiasm and persistence of some institutions, organizations and leadership of the town contributed to the establishment of the institute in the educational space, when faced the problem of training highly qualified personnel in the town.

Currently we are teaching nearly 1500 students who enter the specialities of the day faculty and extramural and distance educational forms. The institute has six departments, a scientific-methodical department, the Department of Preparatory Pre-University Education and other units. Students of Shostka Institute have the opportunity to study at the military department, to get along (at the undergraduate) second degree, and to take a postgraduate course. It offers students a unique scientific library, sports complex, hostel, all conditions for cultural development of youth.

The Institute is a well organized team, which is constantly replenished with experienced personnel. Among the research and teaching staff with degrees and academic ranks there are 2 Doctors and 25 candidates of sciences.

  • Chemical Production Equipment and the Equipment of Enterprises of Building Materials
  • Economics of Enterprise

And in the specialities (Specialist):

  • Chemical Technology of Macromolecular Substances
  • Control and Automation Systems

Science

Scientific and research activity of students outside the educational process involves the students in scientific circles. The Students’ Scientific Bureau is functioning at the Institute. Our institute cooperates with OP «Impulse», Shostka, Chemical Official Government Association named after H.I.Petrovsky, State Enterprise Research-Industrial Complex «Pavlograd Chemical Plant».

Research and teaching conferences are held at the Institute to summarize and exchange scientific experience. 1st International Scientific Practical Conference “Chemical Technology: Science and Production”was successfully held in Shostka Institute of Sumy State University.

Its goal is activization of innovative activity of engineers, specialists and postgraduates, scientific researchers, employees of higher education institutions to address the technical, technological and economic problems, enhancement of conditions of production, machinery and equipment, reducing the cost of products.

Social Work

The student life is funny and rich. The Student club has become an organizational centre of youth leisure where amateur talent groups work; there are the Folk Student Theatre of Variety Miniatures (STEM), Folk Dance Ensemble “Svitanok” and vocal ensemble “Suzirya” among them.

Under the guidance of their instructors Hennadiya Filon, Irina Sokolova and Ukrainian Distinguished Teaching Award winners, they achieve considerable success. You are invited to get acquainted with amateur art activities of the student club.

New ultra-modern educational premises are in the Industrial Park of “Svema”.

The Library of Shostka Institute of Sumy State University works under the library program “UFD-library”. The program is designed to automate library operation: acquisition fund, document processing, customer service, finding relevant information.
