The Volunteer movement of Sumy State University (SumDU) has a long history. It was established by students, who proposed to unite people, aiming for charity in 2006. Therefore, they initiated and managed a lot of acts of charity and various projects.

Each year the number of our volunteers grows. For example, about 60 freshmen wanted to become a volunteer of SumDU in 2014. In 2017, this number increased to 200 people. It’s worth to mention, that volunteers’ schedule is rather eventful: visits to the orphanages and residential care facilities around the whole region, charitable actions of various types, activities aimed at welfare and cleanliness of the street of native town, etc. Volunteers are actively involved in promoting healthy lifestyles, including different actions against smoking. In recent years, volunteers have visited residential institutions for orphans and children with disabilities almost every month. Volunteers prepare entertainment shows and humanitarian aid for each establishment. Our students join with the social services of our town have organized and conducted more than 15 actions such as “The Heart for a Child”, “Let’s Help Rural Schools”, “Mercy”, “Give Children Your Smile”, “From Heart to Heart”.

Each year we congratulate veterans of the Second World War and labor veterans on holidays, inviting them to solemn meetings at the university or, on contrary, visiting them personally. They just give everyone a good mood, free hugs, greetings, or more.
