SumDU implements the European Experience in the Education Quality Improvement Programs

On June 23, the Professor from the Great Britain Paul Hyland visited Sumy State University. He is an expert in upgrading the quality of education programmes at Bath Spa University and the British Council expert on the quality of education. The trip took place in the framework of the international grant project ALIGN of EU program Tempus "Designing and implementing the National Qualifications Framework."

The guest conducted a lecture "Building the Curriculum: Learning Outcomes and Student Assessment" for academic and administrative staff of the University.

Paul Hyland accented that Sumy State University makes successful steps towards creating a system of upgrading the quality of education process and bringing educational programmes and educational services in line with the EU standards. He added that the interest of the University team in project's realization is appreciable.

The Head of the International Affairs Office Konstyantyn Kyrychenko mentioned that owning to Sumy State University participation in such international projects promotes the upgrading of education activity, as well as integration of the University and its services to the EU higher education area.

First of all the work is directed at the Master training programmes. The project is implementing at the faculties of Economics and Management, and Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies. This experience will be broadening to the other faculties, and the Bachelor training programmes of various directions.

The Dean of the faculty of Economics and Management Olha Prokopenko mentioned that assessment of education quality is a very important task for Ukrainian higher education institutions. This thesis is recorded in the new Law on Higher Education. To learn the experience of the best world universities many teachers and university employees visit countries of the EU and the USA. Today SumDU has a good chance to learn the European experience directly inside its walls.


The Lecturer from Germany Conducted a Seminar-Training for SumDU Students and Teachers

On May 25, Sumy State University welcomed the lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Maximilian Doener. This time the lecturer explained students, postgraduate students and teachers of SumDU with peculiarities of writing a curriculum vitae and motivation letter in German. All presenters have got information about the application forms for scholarship programmes, internships, summer schools, and studying in Germany.

The great attention was paid to proper composing of the application letters, in particular its special features of structure and content. Also the comparative analyze of samples of documents was conducted. The questions of successful interview have been discussed.

The participants worked in mini-groups, discussed urgent issues concerning writing of curriculum vitae and motivation letters, actively debated, as well as put a chain of questions to the lecturer.

The student of the faculty ElIT Oksana Oparii told that she would like to participate in German internship programmes and studying; that's why a seminar was urgent and interesting for her. The Assistant of SumDU Medical Institute majored in Infection Diseases with Epidemiology Anna Piddubna also mentioned on the training's comprehension. She was interested in internship programmes for medical sphere.

The Internship Program of German Business for Ukraine was presented for SumDU Students  

On March 4, the presentation of scholarship programmes, which offers internships at the leading German enterprises, especially such companies as Deutche Bank, Bosch, Siemens, Deutche Welle took place at Sumy State University.

The project coordinator of the European Office of Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Martin Reuter visited SumDU not for the first time, and conducted this event for SumDU students and postgraduate students.

Ukrainian students and postgraduate students will start doing their internship in the framework of this programme in September 2015. The leading German enterprises propose 25 vacancies for Ukrainian interns. At the present moment the applying of admitted candidates on the internship programme for 2016 is conducting. The students of 3d – 5th years of study, as well as graduates and postgraduate students majored in Economics, Engineering and Media can apply.

The programme covers financial expenses for travel, medical insurance and accommodation, as well as provides the monthly allowance.
