On February 24th-25th, 2016 at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) the trilateral initiative meeting was held in the framework of Biomedical Engineering Tempus Initiative in Eastern Neighboring Area (BME–ENA) of EU Tempus programme. The issue of implementing a new Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree Programme satisfying European standards as a part of the project was discussed during the meeting.

The event was attended by the representatives of the three countries, viz. Slovenia, Ukraine and Italy. The Head of the Department of Nanoelectronics of SSU, Professor Oleksandr Pohrebniak and the associate professor Olha Yushchenko represented Ukraine. During the visit the Ukrainian Party had meetings with the Dean and the Vice-dean for Education of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, and the representatives of Erasmus Student Network, working on student academic mobility.

Colleagues from the University of Ljubljana and the University of Bologna (Italy) shared their experience in developing and implementing Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree Programme. The participants visited the Laboratory of Biocybernetics, the Laboratory of Modeling, Simulation and Control, the Laboratory for Autonomous Mobile Systems, the Laboratory of Imaging Technologies, the Laboratory for Robotics, and also organizations-potential employers of Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree Program’s graduates, e.g. University Rehabilitation Institute (Ljubljana), the Department of Biomedical Imaging and the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

SSU scientists are going to use the experience of European colleagues to build a platform for Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree Programme. The Department of Nanoelectronics of Sumy State University plans to implement Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree Programme making it available for students in September 2016.
