SSU scientists took part in the V International Conference on e–Health and Bioengineering, which was held in the framework of Biomedical Engineering Tempus Initiative in Eastern Neighboring Area (BME–ENA) of EU Tempus programme. The event took place on November 19th–20th and was hosted by Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania).

The Head of the Department of Biophysics, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Biomolecular Engineering, Professor Leonid Sukhodub and the associate professor Liudmyla Hrebenyk represented Sumy State University.

In the framework of the conference SSU scientists took part in the workshop on the implementation of joint MSc BME programmes. Leonid Sukhodub made a report dedicated to the scientific research results obtained in Bionanokompozyt laboratory on the synthesis and study of the physical characteristics of zinc sulfide nanoparticles with antibacterial properties. The specialists took a great interest in the report; it also let SSU take another step towards the strengthening of international cooperation.

SSU representatives shared their experience in organizing the academic process of the Bachelors and the development of curricula for the Masters majored in Biomedical Engineering. They also presented the results of MSc BME programme implementation at SSU.

The participants from Romania, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine got familiar with the research potential of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry ‘Petru Poni’ Iasi that is considered to be one of the leading institutions of Romania. They also agreed on further cooperation and exchange of experience.
