Sumy State University is involved in the Implementation of the International Grant Project “Strengthening the Democracy in Ukraine”

The project, which has developed financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), provides studying of experience of the European and German establishments concerning the implementation of democratic approaches in organizing and financing of research activity of universities and research institutes.

The project’s consortium was led by the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) included Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Karazin Kharkiv National University, as well as Institute for Single Crystals (Kharkiv), Palladin Institute of Biochemistry (Kyiv), and Institute of Cell Biology (Lviv) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The trip of Ukrainian delegation to the European and German establishments, which are engaged in coordination and financial support of research activity, became the main phase of the trip. In particular, in this project SSU was represented by the corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Prof. Leonid Sukhodub, and the Head of the International Affairs Office Konstyantyn Kyrychenko.

According to Konstyantyn Kyrychenko, the participation of SSU in this project opened new opportunities for cooperation with foundations and establishments, which support the international scientific cooperation. The project has to become a starting point for further development of the grant work of Sumy State University.

For reference. In the frameworks of the project in June-July 2015 SSU representatives studied the European experience, as well as participated in the chain of round tables, which took place at the Council of Europe (Strasbourg, France), the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the University of Duisburg-Essen (Essen), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), DLR Project Management Agency (Bonn), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (Bonn), the German Research Society (DFG) (Berlin), the Bundestag (Berlin), and the Embassy of Ukraine in Berlin.
