On the 15th-17th of October, Sumy State University brought together scientists, industrialists and students at the XVI International scientific and technical conference called ‘Industrial hydraulics and pneumatics’. The event took place at the Department of Applied Hydro- and Aeromechanics in SSU.
Among the organizers were the Association of Specialists of Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Sumy State University, JSC ‘NASOSENERGOMASH Sumy’, JSC ‘VNDIAEN’, JSC Sumy Machine-Building Science-and-Production Association named after M.V. Frunze, Sumy Machine-Building Plant and others.
The conference includes four sections: ‘Technical hydromechanics’, ‘Hydraulic and hydro-pneumatic units’, ‘Drive systems. Elements and systems of hydro pneumatics. Technology and equipment of engineering production’, ‘General questions of industrial hydraulics and pneumatics, energy saving and ecology’.
According to the Association of Specialists of Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics’ CEO Valerii Badakh, the Association has been productively cooperating with SSU for a long time. SSU is a leading Ukrainian university with the high level of specialists’ training in the field of industrial hydraulics. And pumping equipment design is interesting not only for Ukrainian companies, but also for the foreign ones.
The director of JSC ‘VNDIAEN’ Andrii Rudenko (PhD in Technical Sciences) says that he has become a good specialist with a high position within the company due to the knowledge base obtained at the Department of Applied Hydro- and Aeromechanics in SSU. He applies obtained knowledge in his work. SSU is responsible for high qualification of future specialists. Now his company is engaged in developing superpower pumps for nuclear power, oil transportation and amelioration.
Three SSU representatives were awarded with medals of the Association of Specialists of Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics at the conference opening. Professor of the Department of General Mechanics and Dynamics of Machines, Doctor of Technical Sciences Volodymyr Martsynovskyi, the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies, PhD in Technical Sciences, associate professor Oleksandr Husak and the Head of the Department of Applied Hydro- and Aeromechanics of SSU, PhD in Technical Sciences, professor Ihor Kovalov were awarded at this conference.
According to the professor Ihor Kovalov, for its 50-year history the department has given high qualification to a brilliant group of experts - engineers and scientists. Among the graduates are 7 doctors, almost 70 PhD candidates, the heads of the companies, chief engineers, and the heads of professional associations. For example, the SSU graduate holds the highest executive position in the world company ‘Shell’.
The Department conducts scientific research in the field of wind power, the work on the creation of heat-generating units, a fundamentally new class of hydraulic machines or free-vortex pumps. Scientists of the department cooperate closely with Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. Research and development projects of SSU are known far beyond Ukraine. The department conducted the work on the creation of equipment for minerals extractions from the depths of the oceans. The post-graduate student from Vietnam came to study free-vortex pumps at SSU. The group led by the SSU graduate worked on the creation of turbo pump unit in Japan.
