On October 7, 2015 SSU held the round-table meeting with the participants of the “Active Citizens” programme founded by British Council in Ukraine on the role of university in regional development and the best SSU social initiatives.

The representatives of Ukrainian universities, as well as global facilitator of the "Active Citizens" programme founded by British Council Mike Waldron and programme manager Vitaliy Tyhonovich took part in the discussion of the social mission of university.

Presenting the experience of SSU rector Anatoliy V. Vasylyev has said that the social component is one of the most important in the philosophy and strategy of our case. SSU is an open university, so it is set to cooperate with community organizations, businesses, research and educational institutions and so on. Our activities are focused not only on social security for students, faculty and staff. We fulfill the social mission for the development of the region and the country as a whole.

During the meeting the management presented the experience of SSU project and expert activities in the humanitarian field, social-oriented programs of extracurricular activities in SSU, sports and recreational services and implementation mechanisms of social partnership. SSU Student Rector Oleksandr Tovkus told the participants about the possibility of further cooperation of the student government within the "Active Citizens" programme.
