Out of more than 100 applications filed by Ukrainian universities and organizations the international project of Sumy State University is among 10 winners of the first call of Key Action 2 – Capacity building in the Field of Higher Education 2015 (ex-TEMPUS).

The project «Quality Assurance System in Ukraine: Development on the Base of ENQA Standards and Guidelines» (QUAERE) was developed by the staff of Sumy State University in close cooperation with Polish and German experts. The general coordination was provided by the International Affairs Office of Sumy State University.

Duration of project is two years (October 15, 2015). It has a budget of € 717 thousands.

The project consortium includes universities of Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Greece, the Netherlands and Ukraine. It also includes Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (Germany), Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and others. The coordinating university is Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland.

The QUAERE project aims to:
- improve the sustainable functioning of internal and external quality assurance in higher education;
- ensure capacity building of universities and national level institutions through staff professional development, building organizational infrastructure quality assurance in higher education;
- stimulate students to the processes of introspection in universities;
- introduce the introspection mechanism as an integral component of universities’ functioning.

According to the Head of the International Affairs Office Kostyantyn I. Kyrychenko, ERASMUS+ programme is one of the most powerful grant programmes in the world. Participation in this programme promotes international cooperation with leading universities of Europe concerning the main fields of their work. It also gives an opportunity to use and introduce advanced scientific and educational technologies and increase its own building capacity in accordance with European Standards and World Standards.

For the reference. Sumy State University is traditionally considered to be an active member of the international grant programmes and projects, including those of the European Union. Erasmus + programme, introduced by the European Union for the period 2014-2020, brings together former Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Youth in Action and other programmes.
