Enhancing international activities: the US experience for SSU

The head of SSU International Affairs Department Kostyantyn I. Kyrychenko returned from training sessions at the University of Illinois and at the Institute of International Education in Washington (USA) within "The leadership Institute" programme funded by the U.S. Department of State.

From dozens of Ukrainian applicants three representatives of university administration received individual grants. Overall, 45 people from 20 countries became the winners of the program.

Within ten days U.S. leading universities hosted the participants who took part in training sessions "Campus Internationalization: Institutional Structures to Support Inbound and Outbound Student Mobility". The trainings helped to explore services for foreign students; international integration; academic mobility programs; international partnerships and agreements; international security and risk management.

During the trip Kostyantyn Kyrychenko had acquainted with the US system of higher education, approaches to the organization of international activity, the best practices of leading US universities in international cooperation, learned about the most effective mechanisms and tools of international cooperation development. The work in the U.S. Department of State in Washington lasted four days. The programme runs over a five-month period, it also includes a series of online training on the development of international activities.

The visit of Kostyantyn Kyrychenko resulted in establishing contacts with American colleagues. SSU in collaboration with the University of Illinois will submit a joint grant project to the US Government, aimed to develop international cooperation of Ukrainian and American HEIs.
