New dentistry building opened by the Day of Knowledge

An extraordinary event was at SSU. The new dentistry building in SSU Medical Institute opened its doors on September 1.

Sumy State University is actively starting up new facilities, exclusively funded by the university. The new building will hosts classes for student, scientific researches, and also the healing process. The building has the most modern equipment. Moreover, by 2016 there will be a powerful dental laboratory.

Teachers and students were congratulated by the guests of honor - head of Sumy Regional State Administration Mykola Klochko, Deputy Head of Sumy Regional Council Vira Lavryk, Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko. They noted the importance of this event for the region and the whole Ukraine, because Sumy State University is one of the few universities in the country, which builds infrastructure facilities in such difficult conditions. Representatives of the regional and city authorities pointed out that the complex of historic buildings, restored by the university, serves to the residents of the area where they have high-quality health services. This demonstrates the European vector of SSU activities, for example, in terms of social mission and the desire of the entire university team to give high-quality education of the European level. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the health and education field.

“Since my childhood I dreamed of being a doctor. And in the ninth grade I finally realized what I want to do in my life. Learning anatomy, human physiology is very interesting. No wonder I chose SSU”- sophomore Katerina Mezhevyh said.

Dental student Jora Marandyan also declared that Dentistry - one of the most promising fields and new premises, new equipment this is proof that the university is interested in training highly qualified specialists.

"I chose the profession of dentist, because I have decided to continue the work of my parents. With the new equipment we will be able to navigate the modern world trends in medicine and, of course, we’ll get the opportunity to gain practical skills," - freshman Alexander Lopatko said.

It’s important. Dental building is one of the objects, which is situated on the estate area of more than 2.8 hectares. The main building (now the sanatorium of Sumy State University) is an architectural monument of XIX – beginning of XX century. During the reconstruction of the building, which was almost completely destroyed, the second and third floors were completed. The works were carried out in the same architectural style as the sanatorium. Construction was conducted by contractors, repair and construction divisions of SSU. Building has been equipped with modern facilities (in particular dental offices, X-ray rooms, surgical, phantom, multimedia and computer classes, etc.).
