On December 19th during the press-conference at the news agency UNIAN, Sumy State University announced opening of the unique academic and research laboratory of virtual and augmented reality “Ulab”.

“The influence of virtual reality technologies is strong to such an extent, that gives us the possibility to create a future working place, a concrete situation. The main advantage of such technology is their real influence on the process participant. The immersion and motivation are very strong. Through using of these means of influence, we perceive serious advantage of virtual reality technologies for studying. Thanks to new laboratory, we are planning to change the approaches, to modulate and give new possibilities and tools to students and teachers for studying” – explained Yurii Zuban, Director of the Center of E-learning Technologies.

The decision presented during the meeting is a part of so-called ecosystem of e-learning at Sumy State University. That is a system of software and methodical solutions that exist in the university for more than 10 years and allow to make the studying process ultimately effective. The ecosystem project entered the final stage of the project competition on educational technologies Reimagine Education Awards and represented Ukraine at an exhibition-conference in London on December 9th-10th. The QS Ranking Agency and Wharton Learning Lab of University of Pennsylvania organized the 6 edition of the annual event

Zoia Zaitseva, QS Regional Director, joined the press-conference via video communication. She shared her impressions of SumDU participation in the conference and the presentation stand of the university: “From what I saw on the presentation stand of Sumy State University, I can draw the conclusion that SumDU students are very lucky. Basing on the event – your HEI has a well-established projection into the future relying on the current foundation and thinks out of the box in terms of future studying.”

In conclusion, speakers underscored, that SumDU isn’t just following the educational trends, it creates these trends, predicts everything what may be necessary for students and teachers in future.
