Short description of the project: sustainable economy as a key element of the European area cannot be achieved in one separate region. Consequently, it requires common efforts of the whole community on the basis of openness to civil society. In the light of the mentioned facts, the project is aimed at direct influence on North (Sumy region), East (Kharkiv region), and South (Odesa region) of Ukraine. The project’s main idea consists of developing training courses and an e-learning system in order to improve the sustainability of local economies by the means of working with 4 target groups:
- University students majored in Engineering and Computer Science (Sumy region);
- BA, MA, and Ph.D. students majored in Economics and Environmental Studies in three regions (Sumy, Odesa, and Kharkiv);
- NGO representatives, local authorities, journalists, local entrepreneurs (Sumy region);
- Teachers of Economics and Earth Sciences at universities and colleges (Sumy region).
Methodology of the programme includes instruments activating participant’s potential through lecturing, workshops, roundtable debates, distance e-learning, Webinars, etc.
Programme implementation is based around 4 pillars of education: Learning to Be, Learning to Know, Learning to Do, and Learning to Live Together.
The principal outputs are:
- developed EU related courses for students (published manuals): “EU practices for sustainable economy implementation in Ukraine”; “EU practices of entrepreneurship and start-up organization: main lessons for Ukraine”; “Lessons of EU strategies for a sustainable economy (SE) ensuring in Ukraine”; “EU institutes and values for sustainable economy implementation in Ukraine”;
- developed guides for teachers;
- developed and started e-learning courses for better dissemination of results;
- created interuniversity network in EU studies (three regions involved during the project’s duration);
- strengthened links with local authorities and mass media related to EU studies, published monographs, and textbooks.
