Anna Melai says:

Student years can definitely be called the best years. We are young, energetic, inspired, the whole world is in front of us, the main thing is to be able to use these opportunities. And it was the desire to try myself as a student of a German university that inspired me to participate in the ERASMUS + academic mobility programme. I can say right away that I do not regret it even a bit. It's already been two months since I have been in Germany, and this is unrealistically cool!!!

I learned about the programme from my former teacher of German, Olesia Yehorova, for what I am immensely grateful to her. Without hesitation, I decided to try, there was no absolute guarantee that everything would be successful, but, as they say, they open it to the one who knocks. So I quickly collected documents, that were required of me: a diploma, a language certificate, a motivation letter, a recommendation, I sent it to the university and waited, wondering what would be next. The challenge for me was a motivation letter, it was the first time that I had to write it, and therefore I had to consult a lot and work hard on it, because it is one of the key factors whether you will be accepted or not. After that there was an interview on skype, on which language competency was tested and in order to get to know the candidates better, everything went very well and simpe. As for SumDU and visa processing, there were no problems at all. All teachers were sympathetic to the need to close the session ahead of schedule, so no questions arose. With a visa it was also simple, the main thing is to immediately carefully check the package of documents in order to expedite the process at the embassy. The national visa was ready 3 days after the filing of the documents.

Whoever knows me knows that my heart is in a German-speaking country, so I'm immensely happy to be here now. The University of Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg is located in the small town of Bamberg, which is completely protected by UNESCO, very atmospheric, with narrow streets and picturesque landscapes; it is one of the most popular tourist cities in Germany. The university itself is also good, the teachers are really professionals in their field, they always treat foreign students with understanding, which is a big plus. At the moment I can’t say that the studies is very difficult, but it’s important that you need to be able to make schedule, because sometimes there is only one lecture per day, but you still don’t have time to do anything. There was no clear curriculum; I chose all the subjects that I want to study myself!

The scholarship question ... well, it all depends on a person. I can say one thing; half of the scholarship goes to pay for housing and all sorts of taxes, because here this issue is very important. In any case, I highly recommend taking your extra money to feel more confident. Anything can happen.

With absolute confidence I advise all students who are still in thought to try themselves in this matter!!! This is kind of the experience that will always be in the case, especially for all kinds of motivational letters and autobiography. You will have the opportunity to get acquainted with other cultures, people, visit a lot of cool events, dive into real student life at festivals, and most importantly - travel.

I try to travel somewhere every weekend. For example, Italy or Berlin, Austria and so on, to attend exhibitions, go to the mountains in Austria, listen to lectures in the German parliament in Berlin, look at castles of unreal beauty in Potsdam and Prien am Chiemsee. Admire nature on Lake Como in Italy and the magnificent Duomo Cathedral in Milan, go to the thermal springs in Bad Staffelstein and stroll through the streets of Salzburg ... it is all real. You will feel the taste of life.

Anyone who still thinks yes or no, yes - is definitely better.
