The Twinning  program is a model of cooperation aimed at supporting universities in Ukraine during and after the war through meaningful partnerships between higher education institutions in Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

The initiative is coordinated by the Cormack Consultancy Group  with support from Universities UK International  , the Presidential Fund for Education, Science, and Sports of Ukraine  , and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine  .

As part of the Twinning program, the University of Liverpool  has joined forces with Sumy State University to support Ukrainian researchers, faculty, staff, and students. This partnership ensures the continuation of educational activities, research, and academic support, contributing to Ukraine's resilience and recovery.

Since June 2022, this collaboration has provided Sumy State University with essential resources and access to academic support, allowing research and education to continue even under the most challenging conditions. Nearly 300 Ukrainian students, postgraduate students, researchers, and faculty members have benefited from shared resources, research projects, professional development programs, and academic exchanges in fields such as environmental science, law, management, marketing, communications, and digital innovation.

The partnership between the University of Liverpool and Sumy State University is a long-term initiative that is already bringing tangible benefits and changes to both institutions, creating a bridge of solidarity in the dissemination of knowledge and innovation.
