The representatives of Sumy State University visited Bath SPA University (Bath, UK) within the joint EU Erasmus+ KA171 project “Mobility in Higher Education for Students and Staff between Program and Partner Countries”.

The aim of the mobility was to establish close departmental collaboration between Sumy State University and Bath Spa University, exchange best practices in teaching and learning techniques for modernization of the curricula, discuss further academic and research collaboration between the HEIs.

During the visit, the SSU representatives participated in a range of meetings with colleagues from Bath Spa University to discuss the implementation of the current international projects and ways to strengthen the partnership in future.

The results and the outcomes of the mobility are the following:

  • agreements on further joint applications within the grant projects;
  • an invitation to participate at the Artificial Intelligence – L&T symposium conference, which will be organised by BSU and will be dedicated to the problems of integrating artificial intelligence into the educational process;development of the cooperation with Bath SPA Business School (virtual academic exchanges, joint publications, bi-national supervision of BA and PhD students, search for common scientific research topics);
  • exchange of good practices connected with breaking social, legal and environmental barriers developed by both Universities.
  • improvement of professional and language competencies of the participants as well as the capacity to adapt to different cultures and working systems;
  • improvement of the quality of project implementation under the Erasmus + Programme.

 

 Bath Spa University delegation from the United Kingdom visited SumDU

On September 30th – October 4th 2019 the delegation from Bath Spa University (Bath, UK) - Professor Inna Pomorina and Professor Lu Liu of the Business School and Postgraduate Coordinator Sean Cameron, visited Sumy State University under the joint Erasmus+ KA107 project.

The visit agenda contained meetings with university management, teaching and research staff of the Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management, as well as Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB” where detailed discussion about business-related study programmes as well as possibilities for joint research took place. Besides, British colleagues led training workshops for SumDU students and staff on new developments in the UK higher education, the role of TEF and REF, effective teaching and research in economics.

As a result of the visit, it was agreed to develop further cooperation with the support of international grant programmes, in particular, Erasmus+ and the British Council.

Head of the SumDU International Affairs Department Dr. Kostyantyn Kyrychenko, who was organizing the visit mentioned that the partnership with Bath Spa University began in 2013 with “ALIGN” project of the EU TEMPUS. Since then, the two universities have carried out series of bilateral projects on staff and students exchange, modernization of study programmes, professional development of staff.

The representatives of Sumy State University visited Bath Spa University within the joint Erasmus + KA107 project, aimed at studying best practices in university management of academic activities, quality assurance, internationalization, employment, interactions with employers, and development of the bilateral partnership.

The mobility objectives were to establish close departmental collaboration between Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, and Management of SumDU and the Department of Business and Management of Bath Spa University, namely in the field of teaching and learning techniques for modernization of the curricula, the establishment of research collaboration.

During the mobility, the delegation successfully presented SumDU potential, participated in meetings, discussions and completed training sessions with the colleagues of Bath Spa University.

During the Erasmus+ mobility, SumDU representatives shared the experience with the British colleagues in the field of global consumer trends, international business, defined the priority areas for future mutually beneficial cooperation and discussed the further projects to be implemented between the institutions within the international grant programmes.
