The guests from Umea University conducted 6 lectures concerning peculiarities dental education and providing dental assistance in Sweden and the issue of helicobacter pylori adaptation to different conditions.

The delegation visit included the round table discussion among representatives of Umea University and Medical Institute administration headed by its director Andrii Loboda. Participants discussed the following stages of cooperation within the Erasmus programme – this year the project has been extended for three years that much more expands opportunities for cooperation between two universities. For the next two years, 12 visits of Umea scientists with lectures and seminars are planned to be carried out on different dental issues that will increase the quality of MI SumDU students-dentists’ training.

Also, the meeting with the research group of M.D., Professor Maksym Pogorielov took place at the Center of Collective Use of Scientific Equipment. The scientists discussed the perspectives of joint research using metal nanoparticles to create new products for dentistry. 

According to the visit results of the projects for international research grants for joint scientific research, financing are planned to be submitted. Next time Umea partners are planning to visit Sumy State University within the annual conference of Medical Institute “Biomedical Perspectives” in October 2019.

From October 8-19, Nadiia Hlushchenko, an assistant of the Department of Biophysics, Biochemistry, and Biomolecular Engineering of the Medical Institute of SumDU, took part in the teaching mobility at the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Neuroscience, Umea University (Sweden) within the Erasmus +KA107.

Nadiia Hlushchenko delivered a lecture on “Adverse effects of β-blockers” for medical students as well as a lecture on “H1-antihistamines drugs” for the students from the specialty “Bioengineering”. The lecturer got acquainted with the experience of the Swedish colleagues in teaching pharmacology using the teaching-platforms and carrying out the laboratory work, aimed at the identification of medications. During the mobility, Nadiia Hlushchenko participated in the meeting with the leading experts in the clinical pharmacology of Umea University on the correction of pharmacotherapy of patients at the university hospital. The obtained experience will contribute to the introduction of the mixed model of training of the Pharmacology course at the Medical Institute of SumDU.

From October 1-12, Prof. Oleksandra Berhilevych completed the teaching mobility at the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Biology, Umea University (Sweden) within the Erasmus +KA107.

The mobility is aimed at the exchange of educational experience between the teaching staff of Umea University and Sumy State University. Prof. Oleksandra Berhilevych gave a lecture on “Bacterial pathogenicity and host interactions” for the 2nd year students and took an active part in the seminars and practical classes, as well as attended the lectures and seminars of the leading professors both from Umea University and other countries. A lot of exciting and useful things were gained while working at the University's scientific laboratories and the library. During the visit, the professional contacts with the scientists and professors with shared scientific interests from the other departments of the University were established. The acquired knowledge and skills would be implemented in the educational and scientific work at the Public Health Department of the Medical Institute of SumDU.
