My name is Olena Tereshchenko, I am the 5th year student of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies, specialize in Applied Materials Science.

My teacher Nadiia Harchenko made a presentation in our group of the Erasmus+ KA1 academic mobility programme. This programme provided the opportunity to study abroad for my major for the period of 3 to 12 months and receive scholarships (800-850-900 Euros per month, depending on the country of the host university). I was interested in this proposal, and I decided to submit documents for participation in the programme. Afterwards, I was informed that I had passed the selection and had to prepare a package of documents for the Polytechnic University of Kielce, Poland. The person responsible for the international activities at the Department of Applied Material Science and Technologies of Constructional Materials, Dean's Office and the staff of the International Affairs Department of Sumy State University helped me with this. So, I ended up in Poland.

The city of Kielce is not big, but very beautiful. It is the main city of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Kielce University is located almost in the center of the city, and I lived in a hostel near the university, thus, I didn’t spend money to move around the city and to the university. The campus is quite large, there are 5 academic buildings, a library, a laser technology center, a sports complex and a club. Everything in the academic buildings is adapted for comfortable learning, there are the latest equipment in the laboratories, and there is also Wi-Fi. For my studies, I chose three subjects taught in English and due to similarity of Polish and Ukrainian, I selected five more subjects taught in Polish. And now I have the opportunity to learn a second foreign language.

In my schedule, there were usually from one to three classes a day and free days also, so there was time for rest and even travel. During my stay in Poland, I have already managed to travel around Europe (Budapest, Vienna, Prague) and of course Poland (Krakow, Wroclaw).
