Alina Artemenko says:

The experience obtained during this traineeship is crucial for my future career as a scientist, teacher, and also as a person who enriched himself in many ways. First of all, it was a great challenge to organize the trip in atypical pandemic conditions, when uncertainty is everywhere. But despite all restrictions, the destination was achieved, and I am sure that my organizational skills strengthened more than ever. Secondly, this mobility helped me to meet people from really different countries like Italy, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tunisia, Algeria, Albania, etc. The target of increasing cultural awareness is reached. The next comment is about the research side. Despite the traineeship took 2.5 months, I made what I planned and prepared the base for finishing the second chapter of my dissertation. It was a great pleasure to cooperate with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. From the supervision side, I have got support during conducting my research, and I could freely and at any time communicate with my supervisor (Associate Professor, Ph.D. Iulian Ihnatov). One of the skills that I wanted to prove was analytical skill. During the preparation of the article, I learned how to use in practice the VAR model for analyzing foreign exchange markets behavior, and the research results will be put on the basis of the second (analytical chapter) of my dissertation. According to my previous experience, the Erasmus+ community always paid attention to how students feel in a new foreign environment. Special gratitude to the Erasmus+ office at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University for helping in solving any everyday problems, adapting to a new country, and saving my mental health. It proves that their professionalism when it comes to students who decide to study at this University can be sure that their problems will be solved immediately. Now I can be sure that my ability to adapt to a new environment is increased, and I am ready to face new study and research challenges. Finally, the general impression and feeling from the traineeship at the high level. Of course, every mobility has its pros and cons as, first of all, you deal with people, and it is normal when you have some divergence in thinking, understanding cultural aspects. But what I know exactly, despite all these differences, we need to save our personality, respect others, and feel comfortable. Special thanks to all people who surrounded me during this time. The best idea of Erasmus+ is to provide foreign students with an Erasmus buddy, I was fortunate to have two (Ana-Maria Drăgan and Veronica Mercas). They helped me prepare for the trip, and of course, with exploring Romania to increase my cultural awareness. However, as the travel showed, Ukraine and Romania are true neighbors in almost all cases (cuisine, traditions, style of living).

To be honest, for me it was quite contradictory 82 days. It is worth noting that for me it was the first experience of an internship for a thousand kilometers from family and friends, in a foreign country and at a foreign University.Yes, the first couple of weeks I was confused, sad and could not figure out where to start. Sometimes I wanted to give up on everything and buy a ticket home. I had no one to tell me what to do and how to behave in such a situation. There came a time when everything really depended on me and me alone. I had to decide what my internship would be and what I wanted to get at the end of those three months. When I was asked at the beginning why I chose Romania for the internship, I could not give a normal answer. Now I can say with certainty: Because here I feel at home. I am in love with culture and language, architecture and nature of incredible beauty. Romanians are extremely kind, hospitable and always ready to help. It is also worth noting that the Al. I. Cuza University is one of the best higher education institutions in the country, there are professionals who can explain the most complex material in simple language. It is a pleasure to study here.During this period, I realized that you do not need to cry and tell that you are alone and no one loves you. Stop waiting for the sun to shine, you need to organize your international mobility by yourself, because no one will do it for you. You have to understand which knowledge and experience would you like to gain. It should also be noted, that no one forbids you to interact with other departments and faculties. Erasmus+ is not only books and abstracts, attending seminars and writing projects. First of all, this is the school of life, which is better not to skip. It is an invaluable experience and tremendous lot of memories, it is new friends, experiences and communication. This is a truly adult life and responsibility for your choice. We are all connected by a red thread of fate. Erasmus+ is one big family where you are loved and waited for. You feel needed and know for sure that you can safely travel around the world, because in every corner of our planet you will find Erasmus+ friend. Erasmus+ teaches you to love different countries, their culture and traditions, but at the same time appreciate your homeland and native language more and more. Discovering something new about other peoples, their way of life, views on certain problems, you will better understand the familiar realities of your country. I understand that even if I were given a second chance to change things, I would leave things as they are. I would not throw away even the bad days, because thanks to them, I discovered the best moments and began to appreciate what I have, even more. Dana, my friend from Kazakhstan, once told me amazing words: “Everything has its share of beauty; the main thing is to understand it in time.” Whatever the circumstances or situation may be, remember, that is your new unique experience.
